I am an interdisciplinary artist, working across gestural drawing, ceramics, ecology, food and alchemy. I am also an educator, programme curator, project manager and culinary researcher. Interested in urban and environmental research, materiality, and alchemy, I work within these realms to create works and projects that are socially engaged, robust and intensive. My practice explores tensions between the urban and the organic, the beautiful and the grotesque. I'm sensitive to the self-organising agency of materials, I adventure into the world of immateriality and the intangible through experiments in alchemy. My methods are intentionally slow-paced, meditative and labour intensive and permeate strands of my everyday life to heal and harmonise my otherwise fast-paced life. Committing to alternative constructs of time, and searching for magic in our unsacred world are acts of resistance for me.
I earned my MA in Curatorial Practice from the Bath School of Art and Design (2012), and my BFA in Sculpture from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design (2009). I previously led and developed the community programme at Sharjah Art Foundation, and I currently develop education projects independently and in collaboration with institutions including Art Jameel, Warehouse 421, and the Beacon House National Trust University. I was a culinary navigator, podcast host and researcher with Frying Pan Adventures, the co-founder and curator of Forsa School; a community school for creative professionals designed to navigate these tumultuous times, the co-founder and curator of The Alchemy of Dyeing; an educational and research platform dedicated to alchemical and organic colour-making, the co-founder and curator of Daftar Asfar; an artist sketchbook publishing platform. In the culinary world I have cooked, written and curated for; Rewilding the Kitchen (Alserkal Arts Foundation), East East World, The Confused Arab and 421 and I completed a culinary degree from the Ballymaloe Cookery School (2023).
I have presented my work at Colomboscope (2024), Design Doha Biennial (2024), Art Dubai (2019, 2020, 2024), Alserkal Arts Foundation (2023), 421 (2022) and the Jameel Arts Centre (2021). I am an alumna of MMAG Foundation (2024), SEAF (Shaikha Salama Bint Hamdan Emerging Artist Fellowship) (2021) and Campus Art Dubai 8.0 (2020).
I currently reside in Amman, Jordan.
